How Neighbour Host works

Set it up once, then it runs on its own.

1. Create your account

Sign up and choose Neighbour Host. It takes a few minutes.

2. Add your charger

Give your charging spot a name and set your price per kWh.

3. Appear on the network

Your spot shows on the Plug n Drive map with an approximate position, not your exact address.

4. Get paid

Drivers scan the QR code and pay. Your share is paid out to your bank account automatically.

A simple example

An illustration, not a promise. Your income depends on your price and how often neighbours charge.

One session

At R 4.50 per kWh, a 30 kWh charge brings in R 135.00. You keep R 114.75.

Eight sessions a month

Eight sessions like that is R 918.00 in your account, with no monthly fee to cover first.

Nothing to pay if it is quiet

There is no subscription. A month with no sessions costs you nothing.

Neighbour Host questions

There is no monthly fee and no sign-up fee. Plug n Drive keeps 15% of each charge, and that share already covers the payment fees. If nobody charges at your spot, you pay nothing.
How much can I earn? +
It depends on the price you set and how many drivers charge near you. For example, a 30 kWh session at R 4.50 per kWh brings in R 135.00, of which you keep R 114.75.
Who can charge at my charger? +
Any driver on the Plug n Drive network can find your spot and pay by QR code.
Will my exact address be public? +
No. Your spot appears on the map with an approximate position.
What do I need to get started? +
A home charger that supports OCPP 1.6J, a bank account for payouts and a phone to complete the sign-up.
How and when do I get paid? +
Payouts are made automatically to your bank account. You can follow every session and your earnings in your account.
Can I use it for a business or a complex? +
Neighbour Host is for one charger, for personal use. For businesses and complexes, see the Network Platform and the 14-day free trial.
Do I need permission to share my charger? +
If you rent, or live in a complex with a body corporate, check your lease or the rules first. Sharing a charger can be restricted there.
